Parents and Students perfected in all yogasanas as a family on International Yoga Day

Yoga is a light which once lit will never dim, the better your practice the brighter your flame.
 B.K.S. Iyengar

The word Yoga is not only a part of life.  It is the breath of life. GIIS Whitefield celebrated International Yoga day across all the segments with so much love and happiness. Yoga seems to be the new way of everyone’s life. With the pandemic having given a lot of challenges to mankind, Yoga and meditation remain the best medicine to treat your body and mind.

The theme of ‘Family Yoga Day’ for the little cute nuggets of Pre Primary, was well conceptualized and organized through the art of storytelling and yoga. Ms. Suneeta Karki, the Pre Primary teacher, has a unique skill of narrating and connecting children’s stories in perfect rhythm of simple Yoga postures. Like every year, this time as well, she made the children enjoy the session along with their parents with springs of dialogues, yogic postures, laughter moments, and fun for the kids and parents. They were also told about the wonderful benefits of yoga. The warm-up session began with the ‘Clap it song’ followed by the mindfulness exercise – bubble bouncing activity. The Nursery kids enjoyed the ‘Down the Jungle’ story. The theme around a trip to the farm made the kids of KG1 and KG 2 enjoy the story as much as doing the yoga poses.

Commenting on the occasion, Ashwani Kumar Saxena (Principal, GIIS Whitefield, Bangalore) said, ‘The word yoga means connection and it is so important for every human being to build that connection with themselves through constant practice of pranayama and meditation. It is so important to teach our younger generation, the hidden benefits of Yoga that will have holistic effect on the mind and body, nurturing clarity of thought, word, and action.’

Yoga for Well-Being of oneself and the entire family is the powerful mantra in most homes. Grade 1 to 5 students enjoyed the yoga session where the asanas were demonstrated by the teacher, they learned about the amazing benefits of doing Yoga regularly and also felt a sense of achievement upon getting all the poses correct. It is said that the goodness of yoga reflects on the mind, body, and soul in the most positive way over a period of time, with determination and practice.

The children of the Secondary segment were enthusiastic to do Yoga and they were very keen about doing it perfectly and regularly to stay healthy and happy every day. They did follow the yogasana demonstrations as shown by the teacher and it was great to see their parents join them too with great passion. The joy of doing Yoga with the family was a good feeling altogether and the aura of positivity and smile was seen on their faces.
