January was an action-packed month for GIIS Whitefield

“…..January being the first month of the year brings great joy with itself. It is like the morning after a stormy night- refreshing and full of light. 2021 relieved us from the horrors of Covid 19 to some extent but the clouds of uncertainty are not cleared yet. We at GIIS Whitefield will keep on adapting novel ways to combat adversities and continue setting the bar higher every time. The New Year has filled us with hope and positivity and we are set to make the best out of this year.”

2021 was an extremely successful year for GIIS Whitefield and we are looking forward to continuing the same trend this year. Since January was full of events and activities for our students, we have already set the right tone for the rest of the months.

The first major festivity for this year was Makar Sankranti. Our Pre-primary students took charge of making this occasion a memorable affair for everyone and participated in a myriad of activities signifying the diverse traditions of this prominent Hindu festival. Our teachers organized virtual Kite Flying activity where they encouraged students to learn about the significance of this ritual with their family members and take due care and precautions at the same time. Kids also made sweet sesame-jaggery laddoos and danced their hearts out making this occasion as joyful as possible.

Brown Day was conducted for Pre-Primary tots to help them gain a thorough understanding of this warm and earthy color. Dressed in different shades of brown, the kids were lively as ever and enjoyed the play-based activities with high spirits and curiosity.

The sudden surge in Omicron cases became a matter of great concern this month. We at GIIS Whitefield organized a vaccination drive (COVAXIN) for grades 9-12 students on the school campus. I’m happy to share that as many as 42 students between the ages of 14-20 years were vaccinated in this drive.

Republic Day celebrations and RWCC India marked the end of January for GIIS Whitefield. Virtual Republic Day was celebrated with unfathomable fervor and the entire family came together to pay respect towards the constitution of India and its brilliant makers. Students from all the segments participated in various activities and understood the significance of this day.

RWCC India was hosted by us this year and it was undoubtedly a great success. Our students bagged multiple awards in the competitions and proved their talents and capabilities once again.

To sum up, January was a wonderful month for GIIS Whitefield setting a great start for the New Year.

Warm Regards,
