GIIS Whitefield recently had the privilege of hosting the HKU AI+ Challenge 2026–27 – Empowering India’s Next Generation of AI Leaders, a dynamic two-day event organised by The University of Hong Kong (HKU) on 8th and 9th June 2026. Bringing together talented students from leading schools across the region, the challenge created an inspiring environment where young innovators could explore the transformative potential of artificial intelligence, engineering, and future-focused technologies.
The event was designed to encourage students to think beyond conventional boundaries and develop solutions for real-world challenges. Through a carefully curated programme of workshops, discussions, and hands-on activities, participants gained valuable exposure to emerging technologies, innovation frameworks, and collaborative problem-solving approaches.
Over the course of the two days, students engaged in a variety of enriching experiences, including thematic workshops, collaborative discussions, presentation and pitching training sessions, and an exciting inter-school innovation challenge centred on Engineering and Future Media. These activities provided participants with opportunities to strengthen critical thinking skills, enhance creativity, and develop the confidence needed to communicate their ideas effectively.
A key highlight of the event was the hackathon-style innovation challenge, where students worked together to identify challenges, brainstorm solutions, and present their ideas before a panel. The experience encouraged teamwork, adaptability, and entrepreneurial thinking while offering students a glimpse into how technology and innovation can be harnessed to address future societal needs.
Beyond the competition, the HKU AI+ Challenge served as a valuable platform for learning and networking. Students interacted with peers from diverse backgrounds, exchanged perspectives, and discovered the importance of collaboration in driving meaningful innovation. The event reinforced the idea that the future belongs to individuals who are willing to think creatively, embrace change, and work collectively to solve complex problems.
At GIIS Whitefield, we are committed to providing students with opportunities that prepare them for an increasingly technology-driven world. Hosting initiatives such as the HKU AI+ Challenge aligns with our vision of nurturing globally minded learners who are equipped with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to become future leaders.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the participants for their enthusiasm, dedication, and innovative spirit. Their passion for learning and problem-solving was truly inspiring and a testament to the immense potential of the next generation.
As the event concluded, one thing became abundantly clear: the future is in capable hands, and these young innovators are ready to shape it.
