It gives us immense pride to share that GIIS Whitefield has won 29th EDITION OF WORLD HRD CONGRESS & AWARDS 2021 for the project Child’s Assessment by Parents (CAP) in the Best Innovative Learning Products category.
The objective of the project was to monitor and bring a positive change in the classroom behavior issues among school students. This was chosen at GIIS Whitefield to bring a noticeable change in the academic performance-based specifically between the age group of 6 years to 15 years.
Based on internal meetings, surveys, feedbacks, checking of attendance records, analysis of children results, several sources from where the problems could stem, were brainstormed by the team and amongst these behavioural issues amongst students causing a negative impact on their academic performance was highlighted and defined as a problem. Through discussion with various stakeholders, GIIS Whitefield prioritized the development of the CAP form as a tool to assess and correct the behavioral problem of students. The project was rolled out in every classroom with each class teacher being a part of the project team.
- With the introduction of CAP in place and expectations set, Problems were quickly identified and incidents handled. This allows the class to get back on track sooner, while also creating an opportunity for teachers and staff to identify chronic issues faster.
- With alternatives and accommodations made that specifically fit the needs of the child, the student can return to being productive and a partner in their own education.
- CAP sheet also gives the opportunity to compare the outcomes in the different periods of time, progressively identifying patterns month on month so that we have a sample of data and progression averaged over a period of time.
- With the CAP implementation, the students and their parents, everyone is on the same page about what is expected. Children also have a better understanding of what to expect on a daily basis, what would happen if they should act outside the bounds of accepted behaviors, and what is expected of their peers.
CAP tool has indeed been a revolutionary and innovative tool to assess children wherein parents who seldom get an opportunity get to assess their own wards first hand and build a synergetic partnership and eco-system between the child, parent, and the Teacher.
