GIIS Whitefield students showcase high spirits and sportsmanship in Annual Sports Day 2022

GIIS Whitefield campus organized the much-awaited Annual Sports Day on 3rd December 2022 where students from pre-primary and primary segments unleashed the athlete within them. It was a fun-filled event with various sports activities (like relay, novelty, and, sprint races, wushu, drill, torch relay, Zumba dance, and more) organized to help students in rejuvenating themselves. After a thorough practice session on the ground for weeks, the students performed marvellously in every activity that they participated in.

Chief Guest, Ms. Poorvi Dani, Director of JAP Paramount Sports Academy was overjoyed to see the confidence and energy levels of the students. Parents were thrilled to see the potential in their children and were constantly cheering and praising them. Principal Sir, Mr Ashwani Kumar Saxena said “Every child regardless of age or gender needs some form of movement and activity regularly. Over the years, we have noticed that our students have developed teamwork skills after participating in all the past events. These are some of the many reasons why we focus not only on academics but also on co-curricular activities. Seeing these qualities in them gives us immense pleasure. In the coming years, we wish to introduce more co-curricular activities and improve their experience.”

The new ground was a highlight at this event due to the grass surface. Over the years, GIIS has decided to implement this facility to provide additional safety for students. Since grass is a cooler surface compared to concrete, asphalt, or artificial turf, students are more comfortable while playing and changing positions. They are also less prone to injuries. After the practice sessions, we noticed that our students seemed a lot happier and more active.

This fun-filled event came to an end with the winners being awarded medals and certificates. Hibiscus house topped the list with 109 points and was declared the overall winner of GIIS Olympia.

At GIIS, we motivate our students to participate in various team-building and sports activities that boost their confidence, improve their focus, and help them stay fit, active, and healthy. As the saying goes “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy”. This proverb stands true to date. We believe that every student must receive holistic development and not just classroom education. All these factors go hand in hand and help the students to become future-ready.
