When students at GIIS do their best in what they aspire to pursue as a passion or even career in the future, it makes us all really proud. In the case of Dhruv Jalan of Grade 9, we have seen his love for football take him to greater heights of achievement every year. Well, he definitely looks like all set to be the next Messi-like footballer, from GIIS Whitefield campus in Bangalore!                                            

Even when COVID 19 had shadowed the scope of outdoor sports for many, Dhruv alongside focusing on his academics via online classes, aiming for academic excellence, also invested time to practice the skills of a good footballer wherever opportunity came by. In fact, Dhruv has received the GIIS 9 GEMS Holistic Development Scholarship in Bangalore for class 9 and has achieved good grades in academics all throughout his journey in GIIS and his consistent sports achievement.

For Dhruv, the year 2021 definitely had the stars shining in his favor. When the Karnataka State U15 Football team trial for ‘NINE A SIDE National Tournament’ was conducted in January 2021, he just went for it with no second thoughts. He was selected to represent the Karnataka State NINE A SIDE Football team for Sub-Junior National Football Championship that was held in February at Fathan Sports Zone, Tirupur, Tamil Nadu. The final match was against West Bengal, where Karnataka did give a tough competition, and they received the First Runner Up Trophy and our champ and Dhruv was declared 'the Player of the Tournament. It was a precious moment for both his parents to watch him receive the award.  The Chief Guests at the venue of the match congratulated him and asked him to keep up the game spirit and continue the passion for football, for if he is determined, he could for sure achieve wonders in football.

With a great level of passion and dedication, Dhruv is sure to make a name of fame in football in many such tournaments that shape the best sportsmen.
