Annual Sports Day for Grades 3 to 8 received an overwhelming response from parents

Global Indian International School, Whitefield, Bangalore organized the 7th Annual Sports Day for Grades 5 to 8 in December, 2019 and it was a grand celebration of sports and one of the big events of this year. The last working day of this year before the Christmas holidays was indeed memorable as the Sports Meet had a galore of entertaining performances and energetic races by students of all the levels.

The Chief Guests for the event were - Mr. Satyanarayan - Former Deputy Editor of Gulf News- leading English newspaper in the Middle East, currently the General Secretary of Karnataka State football association and Mr. Santosh Kumar J, a National and international footballer, the Head of Sports Department, India Post, Karnataka.

The event was conducted in two time slots. First it was for Grade 3 and 4 where the programme began with the torch relay and the pledge followed by a colourful sports showcase.  Parents and teachers were happy to watch the Hula hoop Drill Display, 60 mtrs Sprint for boys and girls, drill and dance, 4*50 mtrs relay hurdle races and martial arts display by boys and girls. This was followed by the sports meet for Grade 5 to 8 students. They had the torch relay and the pledge taking ceremony followed by very vibrant performances such as Rhythmic yoga, 60 Mtrs Sprint for Boys and Girls, 4*50 mtrs relay hurdle races and the much liked martial arts presentation. The Grand Finale Dance was enjoyed by all and this marked the culmination of Khelotsav. The overall championship was won by Orchid house this year.

The importance of sports in the daily lives of children has increased in the present world and at GIIS there are plenty of options for sports enthusiasts of all age groups. The sports teachers and coaches are professionals and they help to ensure that every child loves playing a sport of their choice. Dr. Shivananda C S (Principal) was happy to see the involvement of all students, teachers and the guidance of Academic Coordinators Ms. Anuradha J and Ms. Jeelu Mary Varghese in making Khelotsav a memorable event of the year. Parents were happy with the arrangements and the well-organized meet where every student participated and showcased their best. They congratulated the teachers for their dedication and guidance.
