Trip to Toyo University an educational experience

TOKYO, 13 JULY, 2018: GIIS Tokyo campus organised an educational trip for our senior students to visit the Bio-Nano Electronics Research Centre in Toyo University. Students from Class 9 to 11, teachers and the school’s Education Excellence Manager visited the centre on July 9, 2018. 

It was an insightful experience for the students who were very warmly welcomed by the staff in the university campus.

Prof. Toru Maekawa, Director Bio-Nano Electronics Research Centre at the Toyo University, gave an introduction about the centre. He gave an overview of the type of research being done and mentioned about collaborating with universities from other countries such as India, France etc. He displayed a few models of chemical compounds with illustrations.

Prof. D. Sakthi Kumar, Deputy Director Bio-Nano Electronics Research Centre spoke to the students about Nanotechnology. He remarkably explained the fact that all subjects – mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology are not independent subjects, but rather interdependent. Adding on, he explained the structure of an atom and the extraction of Nanoparticles of a substance.
 
Various professors and research scholars also elaborated on the following topics, namely, application of nanotechnology, nano drug delivery and biomaterials.

The curious students also had the opportunity to visit the university laboratory. They were divided into groups and were shown a variety of equipment in the laboratories. 

The students were thrilled to see many high-resolution microscopes. Overall, the visit was a great source of learning experience for both the students and teachers.
