GIIS East Coast Campus celebrated the United Nations Day on October 27 in which numerous activities were organised for students of all grade levels. The theme for this year’s United Nations Day celebration at the school was ‘End racism… build peace’ and all the activities were held in line with it.
It was a great learning experience for the students as they took part in activities including drawing and colouring for Grade 1, 2, and, 3, and innovative collage-making activities for the students of Grades 4 and 5. The students of Grade 6 researched on quotes and slogans about racism and diversity while the students in Grade 7 exhibited their creative skills by making presentations on the same.
The Grade 8 students participated in an interactive group discussion while the Grade 9 students showcased their oratory skills by participating in a debate session held on the topic of ‘Racism in today’s world!
Overall, it was an excellent learning experience for the students as they got the opportunity to research on several topics related to world issues, enhance their oratory skills, and collaborate with their teammates working on several projects and presentations. Events like this at GIIS help the students to grow holistically and at the same time help equip them with 21st-century skills.
