A celebration of achievement and aspiration at Global Schools Awards 2025

Global Schools Awards 2025 marked a proud and momentous occasion for GIIS SMART Campus, as the 19th batch of IBDP graduates (Class of 2025) came together with their families, faculty, and dignitaries to celebrate academic excellence, holistic achievements, and global pathways. The ceremony honoured the success of the May 2025 Board Examination cohort, while also recognising their co-curricular accomplishments and prestigious university placements across the world.

The event featured an inspiring address by Ms. Melissa Maria, Senior Principal, who commended the perseverance of students and the unwavering guidance of teachers and parents. The evening was further graced by Mr. Rajendra Kumar Shreemal, CFO of Quest Global, as Guest of Honour. Drawing from over three decades of experience in corporate finance and leadership, Mr. Shreemal encouraged students with reflections on resilience, humility, and lifelong learning.

The awards evening included several distinguished categories. The Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam GIIS Award for Academic Proficiency recognised the top three rank holders, while the Subject Proficiency Awards honoured excellence across individual IB subjects. The Justice CS Dharmadhikari GIIS Award for Co-Curricular Excellence celebrated achievements in Performing Arts, Fine Arts, Literary pursuits, and Leadership, and the Chandu Borde GIIS Award for Sports Excellence applauded students who excelled at interschool, zonal, national, and international sporting events.

A special highlight this year was the launch of the Global University Recognition Awards, celebrating the exceptional higher-education placements of the graduating batch. The Global Laureates Appreciation recognised admits to universities ranked among the QS World Top 25, while the Global Excellence Appreciation acknowledged placements in the 26–50 bracket, and the Global Horizons Appreciation applauded admits to universities ranked 51–100. These accolades highlighted the truly international pathways pursued by the Class of 2025.

Graduates secured offers from some of the world’s most prestigious universities, including NUS, NTU, Imperial College London, King’s College London, London School of Economics, University of Warwick, UNSW, UC San Diego, Monash University, and many more. Several students also received full scholarships at premier institutions such as SUTD, while Singapore-based graduates obtained deferred admissions to top universities as they completed their National Service.

Special awards highlighted the holistic nature of GIIS education. The GSF President’s Award for All-Round Excellence was presented to Nishant Patil and Karthik Sankar. The Justice CS Dharmadhikari Award for Co-Curricular Excellence spotlighted contributions in Performing Arts, Fine Arts, Leadership, and Literature, while the Chandu Borde Award for Sports Excellence recognised achievements in disciplines such as Badminton, Chess, and Tennis.

The Global School Awards 2025 was not only a celebration of academic results but also a reflection of the all-round growth of GIIS graduates. The introduction of the Global University Recognition Awards underscored the school’s commitment to preparing students for world-class opportunities, while the event itself embodied the mission of nurturing globally competitive citizens who excel in academics, leadership, creativity, and innovation.
