26th July was a coveted day for the student council leaders at GIIS SMART Campus as they officially took over their leadership roles during the Investiture Ceremony held with great pomp and enthusiasm. The ceremony was marked by oath-taking and badging of the student leaders.
Surabhi Bansal was appointed as the Head Girl and Aman Desai as the Head Boy.
The ceremony began with the student council leaders marching in the auditorium headed by the Principal, Ms Melissa Maria. The leaders were then called upon the stage to receive their badge and sash. The audience witnessed some proud moments as the parents of the student council leaders came up the stage to pin the badges. Sashes were presented by the academic supervisors, Mr Singaram Sundaramoorthy and Ms Deepika Sodhi.
House Captains, Deputy House Captains were handed over the House Flags by the House Wardens. Vice-Principal, GIIS SMART Campus, Ms Rekha Veghese, honoured the House Prefects with their parents accompanying them on the stage.
Ms K.P.Sheeja, Academic Supervisor gave an inspiring speech where she highlighted some significant points for the Student Council to follow. She emphasised on the values of integrity, resilience, discipline and respect as some of the traits of best leaders and encouraged them to perform their duties with sincerity, dedication and a sense of commitment.
The event also saw deserving students and teachers receiving recognitions in a few categories. Ms Smita Wagantiwar honoured the students with 100 percent attendance for the academic session 2018-19. The teachers who attained 100% attendance during the academic year were also recognised for their diligence and hard work.
The inspirational atmosphere was heightened with the choir singing “We are young, We are Gold, Trying things we didn’t know, We are Stars”. The audience enjoyed and applauded the performance.
The Investiture Ceremony came to end with the vote of thanks by Himadri Joshi, Secretary Student Council 2019-20, who expressed hope and assurance for good leadership.
