Dear Parents & Students,
A very warm welcome to the new academic year 2021-22. As we start this new year on a fresh new footing, as the school Vice-Principal, I would like to share with you a few initiatives and ideas that will make the coming terms packed with fun and learning for our students.
We received many words of appreciation and gratitude from many parents for the efforts put in by our teachers in the previous term. For this, we thank you all very much.
This year, too, we will continue to be agile and adapt as we transition from online schooling to physical classrooms, or vice versa if necessary, for maximum benefit to the students. We will continue with the good practices that we learnt during the virtual session and we stand by our promise of keeping our students and teachers safe.
Going forward, students from our GMP programme will see their classrooms with a very inviting look. The Kindergarten teachers have added a liveliness to the classrooms with their lovely artistic creations, as well as with creating exclusive spaces with Montessori materials. These spaces will allow the younger students to experiment with materials and self-learning in a safe and child-friendly environment.
Our PYP Students who have moved on to the new grades will start with their first unit soon with new material and manipulatives. Teachers have ensured that they will get more opportunities to present their learning through Unit specific assemblies and events.
CBSE students will get to access a variety of learning materials specially designed by experts in curriculum design in collaboration with our educators. These designs incorporate ideas discussed in India’s National Education Policy 2020 which benchmarks major primary school curricula practised around the world.
This year we are also proud to announce the launch of our e-school, which is exclusive for students who are overseas and facing difficulty in joining us physically.
We start the year with a plethora of activities as always. All students will get to participate in activities like Toy making, Jhankaar- Dance like the stars, Earth day celebrations, and many more.
This year we will resume our ECA and CCA activities in a new execution model, adhering to the Covid safety guidelines. All classes from grades 1-5 will have Robotics as the CCA for this academic year. As part of ECA, all students will learn the skills of 4 sports - including Cricket, basketball, Soccer and Athletics.
Many of you may have noticed the Kindness mailbox at Level 1 in our primary block lift lobby. This is in partnership with the Singapore Kindness Movement, and we encourage students to post mail on the little acts of kindness they witness among friends. Caring and respecting others are the key points of international mindedness that we would like to see in our students, and we hope to make this project a great success.
Lastly, we will continue to monitor the health and safety of the students and staff, while also helping our students excel emotionally, socially, and academically. It is also necessary for students to observe certain rules and regulations set for them for their own safety as well as the safety of others. Our school handbook outlines a code of conduct that students are required to adhere to. Understanding and adhering to the points mentioned in the handbook will help in a stress-free school year.
Thank you and hope to see you all in good spirits as the school reopens.
Warm Regards
Rekha Varghese
