GIIS SMART Campus celebrated World Day for Safety and Health at Work from April 26 to April 30 2021. With the current pandemic prevailing in the world, it becomes important to educate the students about the safety protocols and measures to stay safe. 

Students of grade 6 to 10 were briefed about the importance of celebrating this day especially in the light of the current situation where we are facing unprecedented challenges and the way it has affected the whole world. They were informed about the various hazards that human life can face and not just human but even animals and nature. There are various kinds of dangers and security issues that the students were familiarised with such as cybersecurity, road accidents, fire hazards, and of course Covid-19 pandemic. 

The activities conducted this week focused on how to stay safe on online platforms and not fall prey to scams and viruses. They made a guide to e-safety/safety tips to avoid accidents in school and on the road. It also included the response to when an accident happens. 

The students also suggested a plan of action to be adopted by students or implemented in school when we face another situation such as the pandemic. The suggestions were crafted in a way that would help the school take better precautionary measures and build resilience. 

The students put a lot of thought and efforts into creativity. They made artwork, digital posters, PowerPoint presentations and short movies to depict the safety precautions and what one can do to handle the different situations. They actively participated in all the activities and gained a lot of knowledge about the topic, which they are sure to use in their daily lives. 

Students were guided to focus on developing innovative systems to build resilience to face crises now and in the future, drawing on lessons learned and from personal experiences.
