GIIS SMART Campus PYP Student Council Investiture Ceremony was held on June 10, 2025, and proved to be a joyous occasion, filled with excitement and a profound sense of responsibility.
The ceremony marked the culmination of a democratic election process, during which students ran modern, paperless campaigns that underscored their commitment to sustainability. Each candidate brought fresh ideas and infectious enthusiasm, impressing the selection committee during their face-to-face interviews. Meanwhile, voters from PYP2 to PYP5 thoughtfully engaged with the candidates, carefully considering their choices before casting their votes.
With online voting ensuring complete transparency, the declaration of results confirmed that the students’ voices had truly shaped the leadership of their community.
The event began with a warm welcome from the Senior Coordinator of the PYP, Ms. Odaia Ranido, who addressed parents and students gathered in the Grand MPH, setting a meaningful tone for the ceremony. Special guests, Deputy Head Girl Rhea Susanna Roy and Deputy Head Boy Kush Bindal, shared heartfelt advice, encouraging the newly elected Student Council members to lead with integrity and compassion.
In her congratulatory address, Vice-Principal Ms. Rekha Varghese reminded the young leaders of the true spirit of service that lies at the heart of the Student Council and reflects the Nine Gems pedagogy of GIIS. She also highlighted the shared responsibility of the student voters, urging them to actively support and collaborate with their elected representatives to foster a vibrant and engaged school community.
One of the most touching moments of the ceremony came when parents were invited on stage to witness the official badging of the Student Council members. This symbolic gesture beautifully reinforced the strong partnership between students, educators, and families in nurturing the leaders of tomorrow. The event concluded with warm conversations over refreshments, celebrating not only the newly elected council but also the collective spirit of leadership and unity within the school.
