The French language students of Grade 2 honed their language skills in an interesting way, that is by organising a Puppet Show held virtually during their French language class.
The activity, “Les Marionnettes” which means ‘The Puppet’ in English, was participated by a number of students.
There were two parts to this virtual learning exercise. Firstly, the students were taught how to make puppets using coloured paper and other art and craft materials at home. The students could choose any character or face using their creativity and imagination.
The second part of the exercise was more to do with the students’ French language skills, where they had to create their own story in French and conduct a puppet show based on the story. Students had to record a video of their puppet show in French and send to the teachers.
The students were free to choose any character and storyline.
The French teacher, Ms Jaspal Kaur Munjal said, that “ we have to come up with interesting ways to teach language skills to students, especially when the classes are held virtually. We chose Les Marionnettes because young students get fascinated by puppets that transform from real to imaginary. Also, the puppet show gave immense scope to them to spend time exploring French vocabulary and create a nice story.”
