Global Indian International School was among the 40 organisations recognised for their effort towards national development and service at the SAF Day Combined Rededication Ceremony 2019.
Guest of Honour was Minister of Defence Ng Eng Hen who handed over the recognition to GIIS chairman Atul Temurnikar at the event held at National University of Singapore’s cultural centre. The award was bestowed in recognition of GIIS's initiatives at school level towards shaping the cadets that join the nation's armed forces, and follows an earlier recognition in 2017 when GIIS was awarded the National Service Advocate award for exemplary support to national service.
"This is a testimony of our commitment to contribute to Singapore society," said Mr Temurnikar. GIIS has implemented initiatives like the National Service familiarisation programme which educates PR students and parents on NS duties and prepares them physically and mentally for the same.
The SAF Day CRC award was held by Singapore Manufacturing Federation. The award honours operationally ready NS men. Other organisations recognised at the event included ST Engineering, Sakae Sushi and six ministries including the Ministry of Education, Land Transport Authority etc.
