Theo Tymon Philos Kummarikunta from CLSP 7B at GIIS SMART Campus achieved an impressive feat by securing third place in the Drone Soccer World Championship 2024, held from July 16-18. Competing alongside his team, The Faithful 5, Theo clinched the second runner-up position in the Championship group stage.

The Drone Odyssey Challenge, an annual competition where students code drones to perform specific tasks, was hosted this year at the Science Center, with 20 teams participating. Drone soccer, the focus of the competition, is a unique sport where players pilot drones inside a netted enclosure, blending soccer strategy with advanced drone piloting skills. It demands teamwork, precision, and strategic thinking.

The Faithful 5 are now gearing up for the Interschool Drone Soccer Championship 2024, scheduled for September 2 and 3 at Republic Polytechnic. These remarkable achievements by GIIS students, like Theo Tymon Philos Kummarikunta and his team, underscore the school’s commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals who excel not only academically but also in cutting-edge fields like drone technology.
