Young minds, charged with the spirit of scientific inquiry and excited about applications of scientific concepts, presented a range of prototypes and exhibits at the recently concluded Math and Science Exhibition at Global Indian International School’s Queenstown Campus.
Projects which were extremely insightful, interactive and fun were presented over a span of three hours, with students – under the guidance of teachers and mentors – presenting a wide array of experiments from use of solar panels to pump water, demonstration on how blood flows in the heart, to how to using smartphones as remote controls. There were also audio and video presentations on various scientific topics – created entirely by students.
One project, called ‘The Monty Hall Problem’, by students Ana and Mihika, comprised a game which explained a difficult concept of probability in a fun way, teaching Math to young guests who visited the exhibition. All through the day, children from all grades, teachers as well as special guests poured into the auditorium to participate in the event and be part of the excitement. In return, they took back scientific knowledge from concepts in biology, chemistry, physics and mathematics.
Students who spent a lot of time and effort to build these toy models through hard work said the exhibition was a mark of excellent innovative thought process, great team work, brilliant presentation skills and artistic abilities. Their explanation of their projects made it easy for audience to understand and grasp the scientific concepts.
Many teachers and visitors left good remarks for the students, giving them full marks or encouraging responses, which encouraged the students to do better.
