“Stories connect the past and present to the future.”

In today's digital age where television, computer and other gadgets have replaced grandma's stories, GIIS Inter–school Weave-A-Tale storytelling contest is an attempt to instill the art of narrating a story among the students and revive the tradition of storytelling and listening. 

The objective of the competition is to encourage students to use their linguistic skills, imagination and creativity to bring out the story-teller in them. It not only develops their communication skills but also instills confidence in them. 

Global Indian International School, Balestier campus organized WEAVE-A-TALE storytelling competition on January 24, 2018 for classes K2 to Primary 5. While students from K2 presented a story of their choice, students from Primary 1 to Primary 5 competed in individual and group categories in various story telling events. Some of the winning stories are: Otters and the wolf, Ekalavya, he king and his four wives and Merchant of Venice.

Mrs. Aparna Temurnikar and Mrs. Smita Wargantiwar graced the occasion with their presence and judged the contestants.

The students presented their stories in varied narration styles that included singing and reciting shlokas to enhance the story. It was a visual delight looking at the students in their costumes using eye catching props.

The winner of “Overall Trophy” was GIIS, East Coast.
