GIIS Bangalore, with its holistic approach towards learning, offers a host of sports activities to satiate the palate of the varied young enthusiastic learners. Taking forward the Global School Nine Gems model, which focuses on achieving a balance between academics and sports, the sports offered help in developing an overall personality of the learners, with focus not only on their physical fitness but also on building life skills in them such as teamwork and building trust, self-discipline, decision making, sportsmanship etc.
To achieve the said goal, for our pre-primary department, the school offers two programs:

EduSports programmes are designed around the core principles of:
- Inclusiveness (Every child MUST play)
- Age-Appropriateness (Right Skills at the Right Age)
- All programmes are designed specifically to work in Indian context. They can operate in limited spaces and actively engage large class sizes.
- The scientifically designed, structured EduSports programmes help physical education & sports get to the same level of rigor, focus and stakeholder involvement that exists in academic subjects in schools.
The various activities done in the Pre-Primary department are: Run and Pick the place, Toss and Catch, Walk on the Beam, Bouncing and Throwing, Kho-Kho, Ball shuttle, Aerobics Bounce Ball, Bowl-A-rama, Agility Run, Strike a ball, Football Dribbling, Sprint, Throwing Zig Zag Toss, Cricket-Batting
- Splash pool: Splash pool activity is a fun activity which provides opportunities to our learners for to experiment, widen their sensory experiences, strengthen their physical skills, advance their social and emotional skills. Moreover, the Splash Pool Activity encourages the development of coordination of body movements and also helps to develop confidence.
Certain key aspects emphasized during this activity are:
- Overcoming fear of water and gaining confidence.
- Learning simple beginners’ strokes using hand and foot paddling exercise.
- Breathing techniques in water- blowing bubbles
These techniques slowly help in developing a feel for the water and promotes interest in swimming.
Our students of Primary Department get to choose their sport from a plethora of activities offered:
Cricket, Football, Badminton, Chess, Table Tennis, Skating, Hockey, Martial Arts
In the next academic year, the school hopes to include more options in sports for the children to opt from.
The school is not only limited to providing coaching for these sports, but also provides opportunities to students to participate in all kinds of competitions.
List of Inter-School Competitions conducted in 2015-16 session:
- Tackle Inter-School Football Tournament: The students of grade 4 to Grade 7, falling in the category of U12 and U 14participated in the tournament on September 7, 2015,which was organized by CoachDirect.
List of Inter-School Competitions to be conducted in 2015-16 session:
- Tackle Inter-school Football Tournament: Student of U9 and U11 category would be participating in the match to be held on October 18, 2015.
- Junior SS Football match: The students of grade V to VII would be participating in the match being organized by SPT/Sports on November 8, 2015.
List of Inter-House Competitions conducted in 2015-16 session:
- Football match was organized for Grades 1 to 7 on July 24, 2015
- Chess competition was organized for Grades 3 to 7 on August 21, 2015
- Basketball match for Grades 3 to 7 was organized On September 18, 2015
List of Inter-House competitions to be conducted in 2015-16 session:
- Skating competition for Grade 1 and 2 on October 30, 2015
- Cricket Match (Boys) For Grade 1 to 7 on November 20, 2015>
- Skating Competition for Grades 3 to 7 on December 11, 2015
- Tennis match for Grades 1 to 7 on January 8, 2015
- Table Tennis Match for Grade 3 to 7 on February 5, 2015.
List of Inter-Class competitions in 2015-16 session:
- Kabaddi Match: A micro event was organised between the boys of Grade 5A and 5B respectively by Edu Sports and P.E teacher on 6th October at GIIS Bangalore.
