The trio from GIIS Bangalore campus worked on the topic ‘Green alternatives to health care’. They took a detailed tour of the school premises and noted down their observations. Then the group brainstormed and came up with fantastic insights that are practical and doable.
Information on green medicine and natural cure needs to be readily available for spreading awareness. The first step would be to introduce books and reading materials in the library about herbal plants and their usage. They chose to design posters on green themes and proposed that a weekly session is allocated for discussion and knowledge sharing on green curriculum.
They suggested alternatives at Sickbay like replacing plastic equipment with herbal medicines and use of natural therapy, homeopathy and naturopathy. Yoga being an important tool for healthy living, they made videos on the various asanas and yogic exercises that prevent and cure many diseases like asthma, thyroid, diabetes and improve breathing. They also identified areas where the school could make a herbal garden.
Students are also ready for an Opus for GAIA (Green And Innovative Alternatives for Earth in Food, housing, clothing, transport, healthcare, sources of water, paper, energy resources, waste management) comprising an original lyric set to Music Competition and Transformation Turncoat.

The students are looking forward to exhibit their oratory skills in extempore competition in both for and against the motion on topics related to mother earth and preservation of the planet. The students have been practicing daily with their English teacher, Ms. Anu and had sessions on effective speaking. She would introduce a topic and ask for a catchy headline and then elaborate on it. Sometimes the students would make mistakes but they learnt quickly from the same and as of today, are well equipped to participate in the competition at GIIS East Coast Campus, Singapore.
