The Family Maths Day, conducted in October 2019 in the GIIS Bengaluru Campus was a resounding success. The students from Grades I to VII displayed mathematical models. The event was inaugurated by Chief Guest, Mr. Venkatesh Subbarao. It was a very well-attended event as the parents of the children enthusiastically participated in the proceedings.

The entire school was beautifully decorated and all the models were prominently displayed. There were 200 such models and they showcased the talents and skills of our students. Each child had the unique opportunity to explain the model and the concept behind it to the Chief Guest and the Principal. Children were delighted at the prospect of explaining mathematical concepts to teachers and parents alike. Interestingly, the listeners were equally enthralled! The festivities did not end there. The parents; both mothers and fathers were treated to a round of maths puzzles in their respective classrooms. The face-off was intense and the atmosphere charged with energy as the parents battled the riddles and puzzles with their children. Winners in each category were felicitated.

The main idea behind the conception of this event was to experience the joy of mathematics, much like the joy of cultural and sports events. The objective was to convey that math is indeed loads of fun and not the bug-bear it is made out to be! This objective was well achieved. The parents also witnessed Math Book Fair that had all kinds of Mathematic books. It was a treat to sore eyes to watch the children enjoying and appreciating each other@aps@s models and leaving the campus with books on maths.
