The Global Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (GCIE) at GIIS Dubai hosted an exciting week-long celebration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) from April 21 to April 25, 2025.Dubai AI Week 2025 is a week-long festival organised by the Dubai Centre for Artificial Intelligence (DCAI) and the Dubai Future Foundation, under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
At GIIS Dubai, the event was designed to foster creativity, critical thinking, and future-ready skills, and was part of the school’s Robotics-Innovation-STREAM-Exploration (R.I.S.E) lessons. Students from Grades 1 through 12 actively engaged in a series of innovative and hands-on AI-driven activities, which were conducted during their R.I.S.E periods in the state-of-the-art GCIE Lab.
Throughout the week, the students explored various facets of AI tailored to their age groups. The event offered unique learning opportunities and aimed to bridge the gap between education and emerging technologies.
Young Minds Dive into AI Art
The youngest learners in Grades 1 and 2 kicked off the week by exploring Generative AI through interactive platforms. They created digital drawings and artwork, offering them an engaging and fun introduction to how AI can be used in creative processes. The activity sparked their imaginations and laid the foundation for understanding the collaborative potential between humans and AI in the world of art.
Exploring 3D Design and Architectural Visualization
Students in Grades 3 to 5 stepped into the world of 3D design and architectural visualization. Using AI tools, they designed futuristic buildings, blending technology with creativity. This experience introduced them to the importance of AI in modern design and architecture, providing them with a hands-on understanding of how AI can transform the way we approach construction and urban planning.
Middle Schoolers Dive Into Data Science
For students in Grades 6 to 8, the focus shifted to Data Science. They learned how AI processes and visualizes data, turning complex information into accessible and engaging formats. By working on AI-powered data visualization projects, these students developed critical analytical skills and enhanced their ability to interpret and communicate data effectively.
Senior Students Innovate with Machine Learning
The senior students, in Grades 9 to 12, had the chance to delve into Machine Learning, developing basic models and exploring future AI applications. They presented innovative ideas on how AI could revolutionize sectors like education, healthcare, and transportation. These projects demonstrated deep research, creativity, and problem-solving skills, showcasing the students' potential as future leaders in the field of AI.
Overall, AI Week at GIIS Dubai not only highlighted the school’s commitment to preparing students for the future but also emphasized the importance of integrating AI into education, ensuring students gain the skills necessary to thrive in an increasingly digital world.
