This summer, innovation took center stage at the Global Indian International School (GIIS) Dubai as the campus buzzed with the energy of curious young minds at the AI Builders’ Summer Camp 2025. From June 30th to July 17th, the school transformed into a cutting-edge innovation hub, offering students a rare opportunity to dive into the world of Artificial Intelligence with guidance and resources from some of the top global tech leaders like Google, Microsoft, and NVIDIA, and academic inspiration from MIT and Harvard University.
Far more than a typical summer enrichment program, the AI Builders’ Summer Camp welcomed students creating a dynamic ecosystem of learners, dreamers, and creators. The diversity of participants brought unique perspectives, encouraged collaboration, and led to innovations that reflected the power of teamwork and shared imagination.
“AI Builders’ Summer Camp is more than an enrichment program — it’s a vision for the future,” said Mr. Siju Philip, Head of the Global Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (GCIE) at GIIS and the camp’s lead mentor.
The camp’s hands-on curriculum was designed to make AI accessible and exciting across all age groups, empowering students to explore, create, and apply technology in ways meaningful to them.
For Grades 1 to 5, the journey was filled with playful exploration. Children built robotic models, crafted AI-powered digital art, and even created dancing robots. The joy was palpable. “I built a robot that can dance! I didn’t know I could do that,” beamed Ishaan Varkey, a Grade 3 student. “I also made AI art — and my parents said it looks like magic. This was the best summer ever!”
Students in Grades 6 to 8 stepped into more complex territory — working with real AI tools from Google and Microsoft to build their own apps, design intelligent bots, and 3D-print components for functional robotic systems. Meanwhile, Grades 9 to 12 were immersed in a high-level innovation lab experience. They developed humanoid robots with integrated AI models, explored autonomous driving systems, and engaged in ethics debates rooted in academic frameworks from MIT and Harvard.
According to GIIS Principal Ms. Anita Singh, the camp perfectly aligned with the school’s mission to develop future-ready learners. “At GIIS Dubai, we believe in nurturing future-ready learners,” Ms. Singh said. “The AI Builders’ Summer Camp exemplified our vision — where students not only learn cutting-edge technology but also experience the joy of solving real-world problems. The creativity, confidence, and collaboration on display this summer were extraordinary.”
