The Chandu Borde Global Cricket Academy at GIIS Bangalore has been instrumental in giving the best professional cricket coaching to students. Cricket as such is an important sport both as part of the school curriculum and as part of GIIS 9 GEMS of holistic learning. The Chandu Borde Global Cricket Academy (CBGCA) was inaugurated in GIIS Bangalore by Mr. Chandrakant Borde, President and Co-Founder, Global Schools Foundation. Over the years, the cricket coaching has been provided to the students by expert coaches to give the aspiring young cricketers, the right training in a consistent manner.

When the rising stars of Indian Cricket Team- K L Rahul and Karun Nair came to GIIS Bangalore for the 4th Annual Sports Day in 2016, they were very happy to see the sportsman spirit displayed by the GIISians. Indeed, it was a great motivation for the young cricket enthusiasts of all age groups.

The success stories of the great cricketers have always inspired our young players and at GIIS Bangalore, the passion for this sport has always touched the sky. There are qualified coaches who teach the students as per the right fitness regime and discipline.  The activities include batting, bowling, fielding, wicket keeping drills and various cooling down sessions. The students are made so confident that they can easily play with other teams in the State and National level tournaments.

GIIS Bangalore team has played in the Under 14 and Under 16 category games and performed really well in the matches at the KSCA (Karnataka State Cricket Association) BTR tournament. The CBGCA team had participated in many inter-school tournaments and emerged as winners in 2017. They won the match against Geethanjali Olympiad School and SSRVM School in Bangalore. The students attributed their success to the excellent training they received and to the belief that there is no substitute for hard work. The importance of team work on-the-field game strategies and the smart decision to make the best use of every player’s skillset in cricket motivates the GIIS teams in acquiring the winner’s trophy.

GIIS promises to give a cutting-edge training in sports to all its students along with the curriculum by offering guidance in a game of their choice. For cricket excellence, CBGCA has been offered to every GIISian in various campuses with a zeal to pursue the game as a passion in future.
