Sometimes, the most meaningful lessons extend far beyond the classroom. Our Grade 12 students of the MOUN Club at GIIS Whitefield stepped into a space where compassion, connection, and community took centre stage during their visit to Country Tree Old Age Home.
As part of the club’s community outreach initiative, the students spent meaningful time with the elderly residents, engaging in conversations, sharing moments of joy, and participating in activities together. Their interactions created an atmosphere of warmth and companionship, reminding everyone that a little time, attention, and kindness can make a meaningful difference.
Adding another dimension to the initiative, the students successfully organised a donation drive and handed over the collected items to the old age home. Through this thoughtful contribution, they demonstrated that community service is not only about giving resources but also about recognising the needs of others and taking responsibility for making a positive impact.
The visit offered students valuable lessons in empathy, gratitude, and social responsibility. It encouraged them to look beyond themselves, understand different perspectives, and appreciate the importance of being active and responsible members of their community.
