From a farmer’s field to a tailor’s workspace, different professions rely on different tools to carry out their everyday work. As part of their STEM Class, Grade 2 students explored the theme ‘Tools People Use’ through an engaging and interactive learning activity.
Students were introduced to a variety of tools used by people in different professions, including farmers, electricians, tailors and shopkeepers. They identified the tools, understood their uses and matched them with the professionals who use them in their daily work.
The activity encouraged students to observe familiar objects from a new perspective while building their understanding of different occupations and how tools help people perform their work efficiently. Through discussions, identification and matching activities, students connected classroom learning with real-world applications.
This hands-on STEM experience reflects GEM 3 – Skills Development, a key pillar of the 9GEMS pedagogy at GIIS. By encouraging students to observe, identify, connect and apply their understanding, such activities nurture practical thinking, curiosity and problem-solving skills from an early age.
With enthusiasm and curiosity at the heart of their learning, our young learners continue to build meaningful connections between STEM concepts and the world around them.
