Connecting Students to Global Opportunities: Go8 Universities & College Board Higher Education Fair

For students beginning to think about life after school, meeting university representatives and hearing directly about what lies ahead can make the journey feel more real. The Go8 Universities & College Board Higher Education Fair at Global Indian International School, Whitefield gave our Grade 10, 11, and 12 students exactly that opportunity, bringing global higher education conversations closer to home.

The event brought together representatives from Australia’s prestigious Group of Eight (Go8) universities, along with experts from Austrade and The College Board. The Go8 comprises eight of Australia’s leading research-intensive universities—the University of Melbourne, Australian National University (ANU), University of Sydney, University of Queensland, University of New South Wales (UNSW Sydney), Monash University, University of Western Australia, and University of Adelaide. Known for their strong academic programmes, research excellence, industry connections, and global standing, these institutions offered students a valuable glimpse into the possibilities that await them beyond school.

Through official university presentations, students gained insights into a wide range of undergraduate programmes, admission requirements, academic expectations, and career pathways. More importantly, the sessions gave them an opportunity to understand what different universities look for in applicants and how they could begin preparing for their preferred pathways.

The learning continued beyond the presentations as students interacted directly with university representatives at the fair. They had the chance to ask questions, discuss areas of academic interest, explore courses, and gain a better understanding of studying in Australia. These conversations helped students move from simply knowing about universities to thinking more specifically about where their interests and aspirations could take them.

A dedicated session on SAT® Suite updates and AP® trends in India added another valuable dimension to the event. Students were introduced to the latest developments and gained a clearer understanding of how these academic pathways can support their applications to universities in India and around the world.

With access to information, expert guidance, and direct conversations with representatives from leading global institutions, the fair encouraged students to think ahead and make more informed decisions about their academic futures. It was a meaningful step towards helping them approach higher education with greater clarity, confidence, and a global perspective.

We extend our sincere gratitude to all the visiting university representatives, Austrade, The College Board, school leadership, and our student volunteers for making the event a memorable and enriching experience for our future leaders.
