Dear Parents, Students & GIIS Community,

The past few weeks have been a wonderful reflection of what learning can look like when it extends beyond the classroom. From exploring future possibilities and discovering new interests to celebrating creativity, teamwork and sporting excellence, our students have embraced every opportunity with curiosity, enthusiasm and confidence.

Our UniExplore Fair and Group of Eight (Go8) Australian Fair gave students an opportunity to engage with leading universities and learn more about the many pathways available to them beyond school. These interactions encouraged them to think ahead, ask questions, explore their aspirations and begin shaping their academic journeys with greater awareness.

Learning took a more interactive form at the Legacy Lab – Inter-School Heritage Quiz, where students from across GIIS campuses came together to explore India’s rich and diverse heritage. Through engaging quiz rounds, they demonstrated their knowledge, teamwork and enthusiasm while discovering fascinating aspects of our country’s history and culture. Alongside this, the commencement of our STEM classes marks another step towards nurturing curiosity, critical thinking, problem-solving and a hands-on approach to learning.

Our commitment to meaningful learning also extends to our teachers. As part of the CBSE Capacity Building Programme, our educators participated in sessions focused on using Artificial Intelligence in classrooms, student mental health and wellness, and active learning strategies. Such opportunities help our teachers continually evolve their practices and create learning environments that are more engaging, relevant and responsive to the needs of today’s learners.

Students also had opportunities to reflect on the values that go beyond academic achievement. International Peace Day encouraged them to think about kindness, empathy, respect and the role each of us plays in creating a more harmonious world. Literary Week, meanwhile, brought stories and imagination to life as our young readers and speakers explored the joy of words, participated with confidence and celebrated the many ways in which literature can inspire us.

There was much to celebrate on the sporting front as well. At the GEAR Inter-School Football Tournament, our students displayed determination, discipline, teamwork and an admirable sporting spirit throughout the competition. Their efforts earned our Under-14 Boys and Under-16 Girls teams the Runners-Up positions, a wonderful achievement that reflects not only their talent but also the perseverance and collective effort behind it.

Our girls also made us proud at the Deens Academy Cricket Tournament, where the GIIS Girls Team finished as Runners-Up. Special recognition goes to Garima, who scored 198 runs across six matches and was named Most Valuable Player of the Tournament, and Manasa, who took nine wickets and was awarded Best Bowler of the Tournament. Their performances are a wonderful example of how dedication, consistency and confidence can translate into outstanding achievement.

What makes these moments particularly meaningful is that each experience contributes to a larger journey of growth through our 9 GEMS Curriculum. Whether a student is stepping up to a microphone, working with a team on the field, discovering a new area of interest, answering a challenging quiz question or thinking about their future, they are developing the knowledge, skills and values represented by our nine gems—qualities that will stay with them well beyond their school years.

As we continue through the academic year, I hope our students will keep approaching every opportunity with an open mind, the confidence to try something new and the willingness to learn from every experience. It is through these everyday moments of exploration, expression and achievement that they gradually become the thoughtful, capable and compassionate individuals we hope they will be.
