New Year’s Message from GIIS Tokyo Principal

Dear Parents,

A very happy 2021 to each and every one of you!

2020 was the year that stopped us, slowed us and forced us to rethink our lifestyle entirely. Schools, Healthcare, businesses and normal life came to a screeching halt. Everything we learned as educators in the past decades seemed futile, until we realized the only way forward was to ‘sail through’ the obstacles.

2020 was also the year you as a parent encouraged us, supported us and stood by us through the changing and challenging times. It was the year you got a glimpse of our real-time lessons, as we continued online education and took over the screens of your computers. Teachers became students and students became teachers. Your encouragement and positive feedback helped us migrate to virtual education in the most seamless way possible.

As we look forward to 2021, let’s take a moment to internalize our victories and feel inspired by them. Let’s pause and rethink our challenging moments to find opportunities from them.

Let’s rewind the memories and refresh ourselves

  1. March 2020: Virtual classes along with the google classroom started
  2. April 2020: Career counselor and Special needs teachers were onboarded
  3. May 2020 was the time we had our first ever Virtual Sports Day
  4. We also virtually launched Global Cultural Center as a melange of Indo-Japanese culture
  5. In August 2020, we opened our new campus in Seishin Daini for preschoolers
  6. In September 2020, GIIS Tokyo ranked as the TopCBSE ranking school among 600+ affiliated schools operating overseas
  7. In October, GIIS Tokyo became Authorized IBDP school
  8. In November, we received our accreditation by MEXT
  9. The year ended with an Annual Day bash and an engaging Winter Camp in ?December 2020

I would like to take this opportunity to salute the teachers and the staff for going above and beyond their daily duties to make this happen. The only way to describe 2020 for our teachers is like a candle that brings light by burning itself.

2021 looks promising with your presence by our side, we will be highly obliged for your efforts for many more years to come. With that, I wish you again, a very happy and prosperous new year.

Madhu Khanna,

Principal, GIIS Tokyo
