At GIIS Kindergarten, the core value of caring for our environment is a fundamental aspect of our Global Montessori Plus (GMP) curriculum. This important pillar instills in our young learners the essential skills and attitudes needed to cherish and protect the natural world around them. Embodying this spirit, our SSD and KK campuses recently celebrated World Environment Day on June 5, 2024, with a series of engaging and meaningful activities.
This year, the children at both campuses embarked on a special mission titled 'Seed a Plant', aimed at making our environment greener and safer. This initiative was not just about planting seeds but also about sowing the seeds of environmental responsibility in the hearts and minds of our students. Through hands-on involvement, the children learned the importance of green spaces and the role they play in creating a sustainable future.
The day was filled with various activities designed to deepen the children's understanding of environmental conservation. At both the SSD and KK campuses, children actively participated in planting sessions, where they were taught how to plant seeds and care for young saplings. This activity was a practical demonstration of how individual actions can contribute to environmental health and sustainability.
By engaging in these activities, the children not only gained practical skills but also developed a sense of responsibility towards the environment. The World Environment Day celebration was a powerful reminder of the impact that education can have in fostering an environmentally conscious generation.
GIIS Kindergarten’s celebration of World Environment Day was a testament to our commitment to integrating environmental education into our curriculum. It was a day of learning, action, and hope, inspiring our young learners to continue caring for the planet not just on special occasions but every day. Through initiatives like 'Seed a Plant', GIIS continues to nurture a sense of environmental stewardship among its students, ensuring that they grow up to be caring and responsible global citizens.
