The Pre-Primary (K1) students of the Global Indian International School (GIIS), Smart Campus Balewadi were demonstrated about the seed germination topic under the monthly theme of plantation and restoration of nature.
The little munchkins were sensitized about the plantation process in detail such as sowing the seeds in the soil while providing nourishment through water, and how sunlight is necessary for the growth of the plant was explained during the virtual class.
During the seed sowing process, students got to learn that seeds have nutrients built-in, and it is the soil that works to sprout the seed, as soil may not produce healthy plants over the period of a month, and for that, we need to keep checking the overall progress and nutrient requirement needed for the growth of the plant.
Later, students were shown the step-by-step process of the seeds sprouting experiment by following the process explained by their respective class teachers in the activity session. In this seed sowing experiment, students witnessed the requirement of plants for the overall growth process. Furthermore, kids also learned which type of soil is best for the germination of plants.
It was indeed a fun learning, engaging and enriching experience for the little ones.
