October 2026: A Month of Learning, Innovation and Celebrations at GIIS Balewadi

Dear Parents,

Greetings of the Day!

October was a month of meaningful learning, inspiring achievements and joyful celebrations at GIIS Balewadi. As our students explored new ideas, demonstrated their talents and participated in enriching experiences, the campus came alive with enthusiasm, creativity and a spirit of togetherness. Each activity provided an opportunity for our learners to grow in confidence, discover their potential and embrace the values that shape responsible and compassionate individuals.

The month began with Grade 2C presenting a special assembly to commemorate Gandhi Jayanti, paying tribute to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. The assembly opened with a prayer and pledge, followed by the thought for the day and insightful speeches highlighting Gandhiji’s life, his contribution to India's freedom struggle and his timeless values of truth, non-violence, simplicity, cleanliness and kindness. The soulful rendition of Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram added a sense of peace and devotion to the occasion.

It was a moment of immense pride as 17 out of 18 students representing GIIS Balewadi at the IDEATE competitions in Ahmedabad returned with trophies! Showcasing their abilities across dance, music, art, innovation and intellectual challenges, our students delivered an outstanding performance. Their achievements included first positions in Soulful Dancer (Primary), Soulful Dance (Middle Section), Chitrakala (Primary), Fabric Painting (Senior Secondary), Singing Idol (Middle Section), Ad-O-Twist (Middle Section) and Futurepreneur. Our students also secured first and second positions in Intellectual Combat and second position in Chitrakala (Middle School). Congratulations to all our young achievers, teachers and mentors for this remarkable accomplishment!

Instilling compassion and empathy from an early age, the K1B students presented a heartwarming special assembly on kindness towards animals. Through a delightful skit, a Kindness Dance and a meaningful pledge, our little learners highlighted simple ways to care for our animal friends, including providing safe food and clean water, helping injured animals and celebrating festivals responsibly without causing them distress. It was a beautiful reminder that kindness begins with small, thoughtful actions.

We also organised the My Learning Checkpoint (MLCP) for Grades 1 and 2, reinforcing the partnership between teachers and parents in supporting children's learning journeys. Through interactive, hands-on activities across English, Mathematics, World Around Us, Hindi and Marathi, students demonstrated their communication, creativity, logical thinking and problem-solving skills. The initiative also offered parents valuable insights into their children's progress, strengths and areas for development, along with practical ways to extend learning at home.

Another proud achievement came from Tanish Phateperkar, who represented GIIS Balewadi at the national-level Robotics for Good Youth Challenge India 2026–2027, held during India Mobile Congress 2026 in New Delhi. Competing in the Senior Category, Tanish independently conceptualised, designed, built and programmed two robots within just two weeks. After navigating multiple challenging rounds, he secured a place among the Top 16 teams in India. Congratulations, Tanish, on this outstanding accomplishment!

Encouraging scientific curiosity and critical thinking, Grade 9A conducted an engaging special assembly on Scientific Discovery. Through an informative skit featuring renowned scientists Marie Curie, Alexander Fleming and Thomas Edison, alongside an AI robot and Mother Nature, students explored how scientific discoveries have transformed our lives. The performance highlighted the importance of responsible technological advancement and environmental conservation. The assembly also featured a certificate distribution ceremony recognising students for their achievements in various academic, cultural and co-curricular competitions.

Adding to the festive spirit, GIIS Balewadi's Dandiya Night brought together parents, students and families for an energetic evening of Garba, Dandiya, Bollywood music, fun competitions and exciting prizes. The celebration commenced with vibrant performances by our talented students, followed by an enthusiastic Dandiya session that brought everyone onto the dance floor. A heartfelt thank you to our parents, students, teachers and support staff for making the evening such a memorable celebration.

As we look back on an eventful October, I am delighted by the enthusiasm, creativity and determination displayed by our students across academics, innovation, cultural activities and community celebrations. Their achievements reflect the collective efforts of our dedicated teachers, supportive parents and the entire GIIS Balewadi community. Let us continue to nurture curiosity, encourage new possibilities and inspire our children to strive for excellence while remaining grounded in strong values.

Warm Regards,

Mr Abhishek Bagchi
