The GMP section of GIIS Balewadi, recently celebrated Health and Hygiene Week, offering young learners an engaging and interactive experience focused on developing healthy habits and promoting overall well-being.
The week-long celebration featured a series of thoughtfully planned activities that encouraged students to understand the importance of physical, emotional, and mental health through hands-on learning and fun-filled experiences.
The celebrations commenced with Yoga Day, where children participated in simple yoga postures and breathing exercises that introduced them to mindfulness and relaxation techniques. On the second day, students explored the theme of Healthy Food vs Junk Food, learning the value of nutritious eating by bringing healthy snacks in their tiffin boxes and discussing smart food choices.
The learning continued with a Sensory Booth Station, where children explored different textures, sounds, and sensations, helping them recognize, describe, and share their sensory experiences. The final themed day focused on Oral and Personal Hygiene, during which students learned the importance of keeping their teeth clean, maintaining personal hygiene, preventing cavities, and building confidence through healthy habits.
Adding to the excitement, students also participated in a self-care awareness session through an interactive PowerPoint presentation and a hands-on handwashing activity conducted in the play area. These activities reinforced the significance of cleanliness and personal care in an enjoyable and practical manner.
The highlight of the week was the enthusiastic participation of the young learners, who embraced every activity with curiosity and excitement. Beyond enjoying the celebrations, the children gained valuable lessons on caring for their bodies, minds, and emotions.
