Tanish Phateperkar of GIIS Balewadi has earned national recognition by securing a place among the Top 16 teams at the Robotics for Good Youth Challenge India 2026–2027, held during the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2026 at the Yashobhoomi Convention Centre in New Delhi.
Organised by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and IIT Delhi’s IHFC, with support from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), the national-level competition brought together more than 300 young innovators from 13 states and Union Territories, providing a platform for students to showcase their technological skills, creativity and problem-solving abilities.
Competing in the Senior Category for participants aged 13 to 17, Tanish independently conceptualised, designed, built and programmed two robots within an intensive two-week period. His journey to the national stage began with a rigorous online preliminary round, through which he secured a place among the Top 30 teams in India.
At the national-level event, Tanish progressed through multiple stages, including technical visual inspection, qualifying runs and pre-knockout rounds. Demonstrating engineering expertise, perseverance and innovative thinking, he successfully navigated the challenging competition to finish among the Top 16 teams nationally.
Tanish’s achievement highlights his commitment to exploring robotics and applying technology to address real-world challenges. His performance also reflects the growing emphasis on experiential learning and STEM education in nurturing innovation and critical thinking among young learners.
GIIS Balewadi congratulates Tanish on his accomplishment and acknowledged the encouragement and guidance provided by his teachers and mentors throughout his journey. His success stands as an inspiration to fellow students to explore emerging technologies, pursue their ideas and develop solutions that can make a meaningful difference.
