Global Indian International School (GIIS), Balewadi, organised an enriching Student Exchange Programme for the students of Grade 1E in collaboration with Vikasa Heritage School, providing young learners with an exciting opportunity to learn, collaborate, and exchange ideas on the topic of Addition.
The interactive session began with students from GIIS Balewadi introducing the concept of addition through an engaging story, followed by a simple and age-appropriate explanation of the mathematical concept. An interactive PowerPoint presentation and hands-on learning activities further helped students understand addition as the process of combining two groups to find the total, making the lesson both enjoyable and meaningful.
Throughout the programme, students enthusiastically participated in a range of engaging activities designed to strengthen their understanding of addition. Using concrete objects, fingers, and counting strategies, they solved simple addition problems while correctly applying the plus (+) and equals (=) symbols to form addition sentences. Learners from both campuses actively shared their ideas, explored different problem-solving approaches, and confidently explained their answers, creating a vibrant atmosphere of collaboration and peer learning.
The Student Exchange Programme not only reinforced foundational mathematical concepts but also encouraged communication, teamwork, and critical thinking among the young learners. By interacting with peers from another school, students gained new perspectives, built confidence, and experienced the joy of collaborative learning beyond the classroom. Such initiatives reflect GIIS Balewadi's commitment to fostering experiential education and nurturing well-rounded learners through meaningful academic partnerships.
