GIIS Balewadi Inspires Young Eco Warriors on Earth Day

Students of Grades 1 and 2 at GIIS Balewadi, enthusiastically participated in a series of engaging Earth Day activities aimed at spreading awareness about environmental conservation and nurturing a sense of responsibility towards nature among young learners.

The programme was thoughtfully designed to help children understand the importance of protecting the environment through interactive and hands-on activities.

The celebration began with a Plant-a-Seed activity, where students planted seeds in small pots under the guidance of teachers. During the session, children learned about the basic needs of plants, including sunlight, water, and soil, and were encouraged to take care of their plants at home. The activity helped students understand the role of greenery in maintaining a healthy environment.

Students also took part in a Nature Walk within the school premises. During the walk, they observed trees, flowers, birds, and insects and eagerly shared their observations with teachers and classmates. The activity encouraged children to connect with nature and appreciate its beauty and diversity.

Adding a creative touch to the celebrations, students participated in a Poster Making activity based on themes such as “Save Earth” and “Go Green.” Through colourful drawings and simple slogans, the young learners expressed their thoughts and understanding of environmental care.

Another highlight of the programme was a hands-on craft activity where students created Earth-themed puppets. They drew and coloured models of the Earth and pasted them onto ice cream sticks, making learning both enjoyable and interactive.

The session concluded with a short discussion on ways to protect the environment. Students actively shared ideas such as saving water, planting more trees, reducing waste, and avoiding littering.

The Earth Day celebrations witnessed enthusiastic participation from all students and successfully promoted awareness, creativity, and environmental responsibility among the children.
