GIIS Balewadi came alive with patriotic fervour as the school celebrated the 79th Independence Day with great enthusiasm and pride. The day’s proceedings began with the hoisting of the national flag by Principal Ms Munmun Chakraborty, followed by the soulful rendition of the National Anthem, which set the perfect tone for the celebrations.
The programme was a blend of cultural expressions and historical tributes. Students presented a powerful skit that brought alive the struggles and sacrifices of India’s freedom fighters, while inspiring speeches by young learners reflected their love and respect for the nation. A patriotic dance performance added colour and energy to the occasion, leaving the audience spellbound.
The youngest members of the GIIS family – students of Nursery, KG1 and KG2 – also played an active role in the celebration which took place a day before. Through a heartfelt skit, they depicted the courage and sacrifices of Indian soldiers, expressing gratitude for their service. Their spirited dance performance to the iconic song ‘Sandese Aate Hain’ further lifted the atmosphere and filled the gathering with patriotic pride.
The event concluded on a unifying note as the entire school community came together to sing ‘Vande Mataram’, reinforcing the values of freedom, unity, and diversity that the day represents.
