GIIS Balewadi organised an immersive farm-themed learning activity for its young learners, transforming the school’s Multipurpose Hall into a vibrant farm environment to provide children with a hands-on and engaging introduction to farm animals and their surroundings.
As part of the learning theme on Farm Animals, teachers recreated a colourful farm featuring cows, sheep, goats, hens, pigs, ducks and horses, along with their young ones. The setup was designed to give children the experience of visiting an actual farm, allowing them to observe and identify different animals while learning about their names, sounds, habitats and babies.
The farm environment was further enhanced with green trees, plants and vegetables, helping children understand the role of farms in animal rearing as well as the cultivation of fruits and vegetables. The realistic setup encouraged curiosity, exploration and interaction among the young learners.
As part of the activity, a Speak-Up session was also conducted, during which children enthusiastically spoke about their favourite farm animals. They shared interesting facts about the animals, including their names, sounds and food habits. The activity provided an opportunity for children to enhance their vocabulary, develop communication skills and build confidence in expressing their thoughts in front of others.
Teachers encouraged the children to actively participate by identifying animals, imitating their sounds and observing the different elements of the farm. The interactive sessions kept the young learners engaged while strengthening their understanding of animals and their natural surroundings.
The initiative reflected GIIS Balewadi’s emphasis on experiential and play-based learning, enabling children to explore concepts beyond textbooks and classroom discussions. By creating a realistic farm-like environment, the activity made learning more engaging, meaningful and memorable while nurturing observation skills, curiosity, creativity and communication among young learners.
