Greetings of the Day!

As we step into a new month, I am delighted to look back on a period filled with meaningful learning experiences, inspiring achievements, patriotic celebrations and opportunities for our students to grow beyond the classroom. At GIIS Balewadi, every activity is thoughtfully designed to nurture curiosity, creativity, confidence and a strong sense of responsibility among our young learners. Here are some of the highlights from the month gone by.

The month commenced with the GMP students of K1 and K2 delighting their parents with an engaging “Pretend Play – Supermarket” skit. Our little learners confidently stepped into roles such as store managers, cashiers, grocery assistants and customers, bringing the supermarket experience to life with enthusiasm and creativity. From selecting products and generating bills to making payments, the activity transformed learning into an enjoyable real-world experience while helping students enhance their communication skills, teamwork, confidence and awareness of everyday life.

Students of Class 10B conducted a meaningful Special Assembly on “Echoes of Hiroshima & Nagasaki: A Message of Hope and Peace.” Through an insightful presentation, a minute of silence and a powerful handcrafted poster, they paid tribute to the victims while conveying a message of resilience, empathy and global harmony. The assembly concluded with the distribution of Art Elementary Grade certificates, celebrating the creativity and achievements of our young learners.

We proudly celebrate the remarkable achievement of Saanvi Shankar of Grade 8B, whose original poem, “Question of Life,” was published in The Hindu Young World. Through her thoughtful words and vivid imagination, Saanvi explores the deeper questions of life, inspiring readers to reflect on values, purpose and hope. This recognition is a wonderful testament to her creativity, dedication and passion for writing. Congratulations, Saanvi, on becoming our Young Published Poet!

We also celebrated Independence Day through a week-long series of engaging, skill-based activities that beautifully combined patriotism with experiential learning. Students of Grades 11 and 12 researched and presented stories of unsung heroes of the freedom struggle. Grade 10 students developed policies and participated in thought-provoking debates, while Grade 9 students promoted different Indian states by highlighting their tourism, education, business and growth opportunities. Through these activities, our students strengthened their critical thinking, creativity, research, collaboration, communication and leadership skills while gaining a deeper understanding of India's history, diversity and democratic values.

Adding to the patriotic spirit, Grade 4C presented a special Independence Day assembly celebrating patriotism, courage, sacrifice and national pride. Our young learners paid tribute to the courage and dedication of our national heroes and armed forces through inspiring speeches, the emotional “Story of a Soldier,” an engaging Bomb Squad act and a patriotic dance. The presentation beautifully reminded everyone that serving the nation also means being a responsible, disciplined, compassionate and united citizen.

The Independence Day celebrations continued with a vibrant student-led programme filled with patriotism and creativity. From the march past and cultural performances to the Story of a Soldier, Freedom Struggle Treasure Hunt, Roast Battle and patriotic flash mob, every moment reflected the spirit of India. More importantly, the celebrations gave our students opportunities to lead, collaborate, create and take ownership, making Independence Day a celebration not only of freedom but also of the young leaders of tomorrow.

On the sports front, we proudly congratulate Mayank Kharade of Grade 3 for winning Bronze Medals in both Kata and Kumite at the KIA Sub-Junior, Cadet & Junior Karate Championships 2026, held at the Netaji Subhash Sports Arena in Chinsurah, West Bengal. Well done, Mayank! Your achievement is a wonderful reflection of your dedication, discipline and sporting spirit.

Our commitment to environmental responsibility was reflected in the Tree Plantation Drive at Ghoradeshwar Hill near Dehu Road, in which students of Grades 9 and 10 participated along with teachers and enthusiastic parents. Following a refreshing trek, the students learnt about native, climate-suitable plants and the importance of nurturing them. Together, they planted 30 saplings, gaining valuable lessons in environmental conservation, teamwork and responsibility. It was a meaningful day spent connecting with nature and taking a step towards a greener future.

As part of our Raksha Bandhan celebrations, we hosted a delightful art workshop for mothers themed “Raksha Bandhan – Colours of Love & Bonding.” Our enthusiastic mothers explored their creativity by designing beautiful Rakhi thalis and transforming everyday objects, such as glass bottles, into stunning works of art using colours, patterns, textures and decorative elements. Beyond creativity, the workshop provided a wonderful opportunity to unwind, connect and celebrate together, filling the atmosphere with laughter, joy and artistic energy. It was truly a beautiful celebration of creativity, togetherness and the bonds of love.

As I look back at these wonderful moments, I am filled with pride in the enthusiasm, creativity and determination demonstrated by our students. Each achievement and experience reminds us that education extends far beyond textbooks—it is about developing confident, compassionate, responsible and well-rounded individuals. I extend my heartfelt appreciation to our teachers, parents and students for their continued support and commitment to making every learning experience meaningful.

Let us continue to work together to inspire our children to dream fearlessly, learn joyfully and grow into responsible citizens who make a positive difference to the world around them.
