On the occasion of Earth Day on 17th April, Students of Grade 1-8 of Global Indian International School, Balewadi participated in a unique Clay Modelling Competition. The students gave an innovative twist to the general perception of Clay modelling, where bread was to be used as clay instead of the usual organic clay.
This was one-of-its-kind and innovative opportunity organized at the campus because the children had to depict mother Earth by exploring the 'World of clay’, made from bread & fevicol, mixed with drops of colourful paints. All the classes were excited and gave wings to their imagination to mould their thoughts using bread-clay. The teachers too joined hands with the students to prepare clay out of bread, a day well in advance so that the students could use it the next day to make clay models. It was a marvel to see every class create their unique clay model with thoughtful messages, based on the theme Earth.
Grade 1 students showcased a plush green environment full of trees and birds with a powerful message to protect trees, while Grade 2 added the globe, the aquatic animals, the land animals and the trees to emphasize on a healthy green Nature. Grade 3 made a thought-provoking model to emphasize on a pollution-free Earth by conserving the forests that are depleting at a rapid speed because of the harmful gases from the factories. Grade 4 children creatively showed a snapshot of the sea life and how the fishes and other species swam together when the water is pure. Grade 5 delighted everyone with the vibrant and cute Ganesha, the favourite God of all humans who brings happiness and prosperity. Grade 6 showed their love for our precious Mother Earth. The Solar system was spotted with stars all-around by the Grade 7 students. Grade 8 made an impressive and expressive model to state that life begins at the end of the comfort zone.
This was an excellent opportunity for students to express their emotions and feelings with a powerful message to save mother Earth. It was a great way to relax for the young minds of GIIS. Bread clay was the talk of the school and all the classes were highly appreciated for the messages conveyed by them through their clay models.
