On 22nd February 2018, Global Indian International School, Balewadi conducted an activity - Setting of "Herbal Nursery" in memory of our beloved 'Ba'- Late Kasturba Gandhi.

To mark her 74th death anniversary, a special assembly was organised by students of grade 6th and 7th. It commenced with a few facts about the visionary lady, Late Kasturba Gandhi, our 'Ba' who was bound in silent resilience and unexpressed ambition, a leader whose identity went far and beyond that of her husband. One of the students shared, "Kasturba Gandhi was involved in politics from the beginning and was an integral part of civil actions and protests across India". She further shared how Ba's  majority of time was dedicated not only in helping out and serving in ashrams, but also in teaching women about the hygiene, discipline, health, reading and writing. This enlightened the students with her vision, her distinguished role in freedom movement and her eminence personality.

Students were further acquainted with the holistic benefits of certain herbs like mint, lemon, curry plant, Aloe Vera, lemon grass, ginger, and papaya; and the importance of plants/ trees in maintaining the overall ecological balance. The assembly concluded with the plantation of some plants/trees by the enthusiastic students from Nursery to Grade 7 in the presence of the Principal Savinder Kaur Rooprai and teachers.

The assembly gave the students fresh and first-hand experience which was helpful in extending the mental horizon of the pupils as well as broadened their hearts and deepened the sense of nationalism, sense of duty and inculcated value of love towards nature, responsibility and protection of environment in them.
