GIIS Dubai Students excel with International Astronomical Space Collaboration (IASC)and NASA

Three students from GIIS Dubai -Anirudh R Chatapuram- Grade 9 , Shreenika Gandasarkula - Grade 9 , Aniket Rohitkumar - Grade 7 along with Mr.Siju Philip, Head of GCIE Dubai successfully completed the Asteroid discovery challenge initiatives by Pan –Starrs in association with NASA USA. This prestigious program, conducted by Pan Starrs in collaboration with International Astronomy Search Collaboration (IASC), enabled students to explore real astronomy data and look for asteroids.

Asteroids are small rocks and objects in our solar system and pose a threat to earth. NASA and Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) work with programs such as IASC to identify and track asteroids to circumvent any such calamities. The 'Preliminary discoveries' made by GIIS Dubai –Discovers team were remarkable and highly appreciated by the Internal community of Astronomical researchers from Pan –Starrs USA. The students displayed great enthusiasm in astronomy, demonstrated resourcefulness and have worked with diligence and hard work in collaboration, under guidance by experts from IASC.

The department of GCIE at GIIS Dubai has added one more feather on its cap with this high attainment in Space Education in this very technical project participated for the duration of a month. We at GIIS Dubai, are proud of this achievement by our students .
