Fruitful parent interaction on fostering responsibility in students

GIIS Balewadi opens Environment Club

GIIS Balestier campus organised a Parent session on 9th February on Encouraging Responsibility, during which discussions were held with a small group of parents on key life skills necessary for their children, like being independent, being accountable for one's actions, empathy, gratitude, respect, managing anger and behaviour.

The discussions also included role of parents in the child’s life as nurturers of their kids, as well as the authority figures in their lives, who help establish the importance of responsibility and consequences. Parents participated enthusiastically in the discussions, and also shared suggestions on reading and writing skills.

‘Interface with Parents’ was part of the ‘Community Connect, Care and Conserve’ GEM of GIIS’s 9 GEMS framework of learning for the holistic development of students. The programme was organized for Upper Kindergarten on 12, 13, 14, 15, 27 February 2018 at GIIS Balestier Campus.

There is no better partnership and support in the learning journey of students than their parents being part of their journey. Students were proud to see and learn from their parent who shared activities like games, story sessions.

They enjoyed making new words from the given word, animal dumb charades and skip counting. The feedback received from the parents who were facilitators was awesome. The school greatly appreciates the participation of parents in making the event a success and looks forward to more such platforms to work together.
