Dussehra is a popular festival celebrated by Hindus all over India, albeit with different names. It is also known as Vijayadashmi (“Vijaya meaning Victory” and “Dashmi” meaning tenth day) as it is believed that it was on this day Lord Rama killed the demon king Ravan. The students at GIIS, Uppal came dressed in traditional outfits and presented various skits and dance performances, depicting the festival and the special attraction was of course our tiny tots, speaking to a gathering about the festival, Dussehra. The programme also had the legendary triumph re-enacted by burning the effigy of Ravana in the end. Link to Photos: |
