Words Without Borders: GIIS KL & Noida Language Exchange

On August 21st, 2026, students of Grade 6 (L2-Hindi) at GIIS KL participated in an enriching virtual Student Exchange Program with their peers from the GIIS Noida campus. The session served as an interactive platform designed to promote academic collaboration, peer learning, and international friendship through a shared exploration of the Hindi language.

The core focus of the exchange centered on an in-depth presentation on the Hindi grammar topic "Karak" (Case/Declension). The Grade 6 students from GIIS KL delivered a detailed PowerPoint presentation that thoroughly examined the core definitions, syntactic functions, and practical applications of all eight types of Karak. To ensure clear comprehension and ease of learning for the Noida students, a thoughtful cross-linguistic approach was utilized, placing structural explanations and linguistic variations alongside the primary Hindi text on each slide. This method rendered the advanced grammatical concepts accessible and encouraged lively, meaningful participation from both groups.

Complementing the presentation, the event incorporated creative charts and presentations shared by the Noida students, turning the session into a dynamic exchange of visual and academic ideas. The program seamlessly integrated key pillars of the 9 Gems framework, including Academic Excellence, Visual and Performing Arts, Innovation and Creativity, Universal Values and Ethics, and Community and Care. Furthermore, the collaboration aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, specifically SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), by providing an inclusive learning environment rooted in mutual respect and global partnership.

The session concluded with an engaging, interactive question-and-answer segment that evaluated the practical application of Karak markers (Vibhakti). Through this vibrant educational dialogue, students from both KL and Noida honed their public speaking, cross-cultural analytical, and interpersonal skills. Overall, the exchange program proved to be a highly successful initiative, leaving students and teachers with a memorable, shared experience that strengthened cross-border ties and celebrated the beauty of linguistic learning.
