The transition from pencil to pen is a classic rite of passage for every young learner, a clear sign of growing up, thinking bigger, and stepping into new academic adventures! On the morning of 30th September 2026, the GIIS KL Auditorium was buzzing with excitement, pride, and broad smiles as Year 5 students, together with their delighted parents and teachers, gathered for the highly anticipated Pen Holding Ceremony.

The morning kicked off at 8:00 AM with an inspiring opening address by the Principal Ms. Dipti Joshna. The Principal reminded everyone that trading in a pencil for a pen isn’t just about making permanent ink marks on a page, it represents growing maturity, personal accountability, and the confidence to express oneself fully.

The highlight of the event was the official presentation. One by one, Year 5 students walked up to the stage with beaming smiles to receive their very own personalized pen and diary, each beautifully engraved with their name. Enthusiastic applause from teachers, peers, and parents echoed through the auditorium, making every student feel like a true star stepping into a bigger, brighter role in their learning journey.

Beyond the celebration, the Pen Holding Ceremony echoes key holistic educational principles. Aligning with GIIS’s 9 Gems framework; specifically Personality Development, Entrepreneurship and Leadership , and Universal Values and Ethics, the milestone helps nurture confident, responsible, and ethical young leaders.
