Principal's Newsletter March 2021

Come March and the whole school ecosystem comes to extra active mode. On one side where CAMB gears up for brushing up mocks, on the other side CBSE gears up for new academic session to begin. while the rest of the school was gearing up for exams, Secondary team of CBSE segment was ready to welcome incoming class 10th and 12th students. A virtual orientation was conducted for new 10th and 12th for session 2021-22. Parents received the initiative in extremely positive note as they felt more involved in stream of readiness while their wards step in to board classes and students felt spark for the same .

Students need to embrace everything, may it be academics or non-academic activities .Testimonies speak it for all .GIIS Kl created history with sequence of online celebrations under the name of ‘Vivacious Hues of Glee’  which began in the month of February and closed in March .The best part of all these celebrations was a strong bond of students ,teachers and parents making it all a great success .Involvement and presence  of senior management to enhance motivational level of students was again an example of GIIS being an extended family with wings spread across the globe

Excellence is not a mere result of achievements ,but is an attitude and our students Keertana, Yegammai, Garvit and Vikramaditya of Std. 8 GIIS KL carved a niche over others by participating in a virtual cultural program which was definitely a different experience for them .  “If you have one idea and If I have one idea and when we exchange, we both will have two ideas”, with this beautiful thought the event was started by the host. This program was organized by HETS- Harvest Educational Transformational Solutions. GIIS KL was in TEAM ACES. There were nine schools which participated in this program from different states of India like Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, UP, Delhi and from Dubai. They organizers had given the option to choose from a variety of topics like Art and Culture, Tradition, Technology and Ecology. GIIS had chosen Ecology. It was not a competition but an exchange of ideas where students could learn different ways of presenting their perspective through various modes of arts and technology. GIIS KL had prepared a presentation on Ecology, which explained the importance of ecology along with the damages caused, the preventive measures and how GIIS KL has contributed in maintaining balance in ecology through the campaign called Eco Transformer.  Organizers appreciated GIIS KL presentation and their perspective on ecology.  There was a special mention of it towards the end of the event.

Beyond school and interschool events, GIIS gives an opportunity to our students for international and intercultural interactions with our own sister concerns across the globe GIIS KL participated in the inter-school competition GIIS LEAPS organized by GIIS Hadapsar. The events in which the students participated were- Dramatize, Words Matter, Start-up, Oodles of Doodles, Junkyard, Jingle It, Intellectual Combat, GIIS Beams and Create a buzz.

Nandini of Class 8, achieved 3rd place in Word Matter category as she presented her writing skills succinctly. Students from Class 9, Athvidhyanaathan, Avanidhya, Haresh and Srikanth showed their entrepreneurial skills in the event ‘Start-Up’. Aarya, Hamsini, Akshayraj, Vaidik and Roshan brought fame to the school with their artistic skills in, ‘Create a Buzz’. Tanishq, Saksham, Allen and Mudhurima created an innovative working model on waste management in ‘Junkyard- Steam Challenge’. It was fascinating to witness all the participants putting up magnificent performances and kept the virtual audience enthralled throughout.

In a row of activities by CBSE. GIIS team of student leaders participates actively. ‘The India Toy Fair 2021’ was organised from 27th February to 2nd March, 2021 through the first-ever digitally accessible exhibition. Event was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, wherein India’s local toy and game industry had played a crucial role in realizing the aspirations of existing craftsmen and innovators to make India stand out for its rich and multifarious toy production. This event was conducted Under Atmanirbhar Bharat(Self Reliant India) by the year 2022 campaign, to mark 75 glorious years of India’s Independence, and to hint at a new India which will merge the best of traditions with a modern-global outlook. From GIIS KL 57 students (Classes 6 to 12), 16 teachers and facilitators participated to discover, explore and celebrate the world of toys and games at ‘The India Toy Fair 2021’. The main attractions of the fair included a virtual exhibition with over 1,000 stalls, knowledge sessions with engaging panel discussions and webinars on diverse topics by experts on areas including toy-based learning, craft demonstrations, competitions, quizzes, virtual tours, product launches, etc.

Alumni are our ambassadors. A strong alumni network not only gives confidence to our alumni to be part of their alma-mater ,  but also adds to motivation and knowledge level of our existing students. GIIS KL Alumni Group organized an advisory and interactive session with a few alumni , regarding higher studies. This session was organized to brief the students of Classes 11 and 12 about the study of medicine and the life of a doctor. Dr. Saloni Patra (2011-12), Dr. Gauri Chillargi (2012-13)  and Dr. Samhita Choudhary (2014-15) were invited for this session. The entire batch of Class 11 and some students of Class 12 participated in this session.  The session was intriguing as they shared their experiences being front liner doctors during the covid pandemic. All of them are still working for the cause, tending to the needs of the patients. They also spoke about the study of medicine and a few commonly thought myths about doctors and the pandemic itself.

This is a never ending journey, we call it the journey of excellence, which doesn’t have any destination, but has various steps, where we meet and take you with us to enjoy the achievements of our students who are being nurtured in GIIS for creating history .

Let’s be with them

Best wishes
