The Mathematics Department at GIIS KL successfully conducted an exciting and intellectually stimulating Mathematics Quiz Competition for students in Classes 9 and 10 CBSE. Aligned with Sustainable Development Goals SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 5 (Gender Equality), as well as GIIS’s 9 Gems framework focusing on Skill Development, the event aimed to assess students’ conceptual understanding, logical reasoning, quick thinking, and awareness of famous mathematicians.
The journey began on July 24, 2026, with a comprehensive selection round in which all students from Grades 9 and 10 participated. From this initial stage, sixteen students were selected to represent four distinct houses in the Grand Final, with each house team comprising two Grade 9 students and two Grade 10 students.
The Final Round took place on August 13, 2026, at the GIIS KL Auditorium, featuring three engaging rounds. The first phase, the Mathematics Round, tested participants' fundamental knowledge with five questions covering Algebra, Trigonometry, and Probability, emphasizing accuracy and problem-solving skills. The second phase, the Mathematicians Round, challenged each team with three questions regarding renowned mathematicians, their groundbreaking discoveries, and their lasting contributions to the discipline. Finally, the competition reached its peak with an intense Buzzer Round, where teams raced to answer five final questions, testing their speed, confidence, and ability to perform under pressure.
The event proved to be a vibrant display of analytical prowess and collaborative spirit, inspiring students to appreciate the richness and history of mathematics beyond the traditional classroom setting.
