GIIS KL corridors buzzed with creative energy as students from Grades 9 through 12 participated in the Inter-House Art Competition recently. Held within the familiar surroundings of their respective classrooms during the designated IHC period, the event brought together a total of 217 students, alongside enthusiastic participation from all class and subject teachers who supported the young artists.

The competition was centered around the inspiring theme, "From Waste to Wonder: Creating Sustainable Creations." Designed to align with the school's commitment to holistic education, the event successfully integrated several core values from the 9 Gems framework and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. By challenging students to rethink consumerism and waste, the activity highlighted Gem 3 (Visual and Performing Arts), Gem 5 (Innovation and Creativity), Gem 7 (Universal Values and Ethics), and Gem 9 (Skill Development). Furthermore, it served as a practical exploration of SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production).

With incredible ingenuity and a shared sense of purpose, the participants set to work transforming everyday waste materials into stunning, meaningful works of art. The classrooms quickly turned into hubs of innovation, proving that items often dismissed as rubbish can be given a second life through artistic vision. Each unique piece delivered a powerful message about the urgent need to honor, respect, and protect Mother Earth.
